W/E Friday 4 March
Following on from last week's Art news here are a few more works from the current IB and Upper Fourth exhibition. These images are sculptural works on the theme ‘Conflict’ that Jo Millar’s Upper Fourth students have been creating. The exhibition opening is Friday 4pm to 5pm (too late notice for this publication perhaps). It will be up for a number of weeks so there will be other opportunities to come and see the work. It is well worth a look.
Our Third Form and Lower Fourth are currently engaged on a project that is making connections with two refugee camps in Northern Iraq. The camps house around 50 thousand Yazidi refugees, who were forced from their homes by extremist Islamic fighters, and are unable to return. We plan to send them greetings from Sidcot in the form of electronic ‘Peace Cards’. We have also today been in contact with a group from one of the camps using a Skype connection, which was very exciting. They are very keen to practice their English, and keen also to make connections outside the camps which are currently their world.
