Equestrian Success

Sidcot  equestrian team of Elsa Cardale (Y6), Sophie Lee (Y6), Maisie Warren (Y7) and Lottie Gunter (Y7) enjoyed success at the weekend coming 4th in the 75cm class at the National Schools Equestrian Association showjumping competition in Devon.  Against strong opposition in a big class they all rode lovely rounds, with Lottie and Maisie getting double clears, and just narrowly missed out on the chance to qualify for the NSEA National Championships. Birthday girl Maisie was also 6th individually. Well done girls!!

The 85cm class had over 80 entries, with U19 representatives from schools all over the South West. Sidcot was represented by Maisie Warren, Frida Cardale (Y10) and Jess Browning (Y11). Frida had a couple of unlucky poles down but both Maisie and Jess had double clear rounds. Maisie made some amazing turns in the times section on her pony Beauty and ended up with a very fast time. Maisie was placed second individually in the class and thereby qualified for the National Schools Equestrian Championships that take place in Buckinghamshire at the end of October.  A fantastic achievement so well done Maisie!

Sidcot didn’t have a team in the 95cm class but Jess and Frida competed as individuals for the school. Both girls rode very well but after a long day and a lot of jumping, their horses were a little careless and they picked up 8 faults each for having poles down.
