On Saturday 16th September, Lower Sixth IB students were involved in activities to learn more about their CAS programme. CAS is part of the core of the IB and it is planned by students. They have to complete a portfolio where they put their reflections on their experiences in the three strands: Creativity, Activity and Service.
In the morning, they took active part to an introductory presentation demonstrating great collaborative skills, when they tried to make a circle out of their human knot; and reflective skills, when it came to think about their passions and expectations on CAS.
The second part of the day took place at Carymoor Environmental Centre: this is more than a landfill, as students reflected very deeply on the impact of waste on our planet. They were guided by the centre staff to think about different ways to dispose of the waste and look at the future with sustainable solutions.
These are just few thoughts from the students who enjoyed a successful and thoughtful CAS day:
It made me realise how big this issue is
I never thought about this problem in these terms before
