Autumn Term Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions

Autumn Term Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions

Congratulations to the 14 students who successfully completed their Gold assessed expedition in the Brecon Beacons. These are challenging expeditions in which the students walk 50 miles over four days, carrying all their camping equipment and food.

They crossed the mountains climbing around 1,000 metres to find campsites on remote farms with only basic facilities. The groups all supported each other well and remained cheerful in the face of changeable weather conditions.

This is a busy half term for DofE, including the Silver expeditions for Sixth Formers from 25 to 27 September and for Upper Fifth from 9 to 11 October.

Pupils in Lower Fifth will soon have an opportunity to enrol for the Bronze award and new students in the sixth form can do Silver or Gold.

When students have completed the Physical Recreation, Skill and Service sections of the award they should up load the information to eDofE. If help is needed with this process, Sue Skyrme is in the computer T2/10 on Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes.
