A Level History trip to University of the West of England

Tuesday 19 January

The A Level History class visited Frenchay campus in Bristol, part of the University of the West of England (UWE). Their aim was to do some research for their History coursework on the impact of political changes on life in Russia/USSR between the years 1900-2000. On arrival we had a tour of the campus which showed us the advantages of independent living at university, and had lunch in the Student Union bar. We were then shown how to use the library catalogue to search for books, articles and journals relevant to our topic. This was a fantastic experience for the students who are in the process of applying to universities themselves. It gave them a real flavour of using a big university library, and they found lots of useful historiography for their coursework.
