Sport should be a pleasure
That’s how we approach it at Sidcot. A chance to enjoy physical skills and experience the buzz of team spirit. Students leave us with an understanding of the health benefits, as well as the life enhancing fun, of sports and regular physical activity. Many leave with a level of sporting skills that gives them pleasure for the rest of their lives, whilst others achieve professional success.
If a student shows a particular talent in a sport, we will support them in developing that talent. However, we don’t like to push students in one dimension, and so we’ll make sure that they also keep a balance and stay interested in other sports, cultural activities and academic studies.
Great facilities and excellent teaching
We have top level facilities - including 20 acres of playing fields and a 25 metre swimming pool - and the highest standards of teaching and coaching. We offer students an exceptionally wide range of sports and physical activities including rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, football and swimming, dance, gymnastics and outdoor adventure trips. We encourage everyone to have a go at everything - and all students get the chance to be part of a team.
A strong spirit of sportsmanship is present in competitive sports at Sidcot. Our students really enjoy being part of a team and value the contribution that different individuals can make. We regularly produce players for District and County school teams - even though we’re a relatively small school, and many students play with local clubs.
