The University of Bristol recently completed an extensive study entitled Schools for Wellbeing – the educational significance of Quaker school culture. The author, Nigel Newton, worked with Sidcot, along with four other Quaker schools, to conduct the first major UK study on the educational experiences of students in Quaker schools. Visitors to Sidcot often express their amazement at the maturity of the children, the atmosphere of friendliness and the general sense of academic purpose. This study has given scientific substance to these impressions.
