Alex Guthrie – Junior PE Lead

Alex studied BSc (Hons) Sports Studies at Staffordshire University.  After university she travelled and worked around the world for two years and whilst away an opportunity came to start her teaching career in Kenya.   After spending two inspiring years living in Africa and teaching at Greensteds International School, Alex returned to complete her PGCE at The University of Chichester.


Since Kenya, Alex has gained extensive experience at a range of schools including; The Royal Latin School (Bucks), Wycombe Abbey (Bucks), Millfield and The Park School.   


During Alex’s career she has held a variety of positions; School Sports Coordinator, Assistant Houseparent, Head of Hockey, Head of House and most recently, Director of Sport.   A role she particularly enjoyed was as a PE SCITT Tutor at The Buckingham Partnership SCITT, this entailed training aspiring PGCE PE teachers, through the delivery of sport specific sessions and mentoring them through the challenging year.


As a sports woman, Alex grew up immersed in various sports and has played Tennis and Hockey to a national level.   


Alex loves the simple pleasures in life of spending time with her family, walking her dog and travelling around Europe in her van.  Having retired from all competitive sport she can now be found supporting her own children on the sidelines as they embark on their sporting journeys.
