1 Year Pre A Level or Pre IB Course

In response to demand from students to study in the UK and gain qualifications alongside improving their understanding of the English language, Sidcot has designed a 1 year Pre A-Level or Pre IB course.  This dynamic course is suitable for students aged 15-16 years and allocates 50% of the timetable to English Language and 50% to studying GCSEs, up to 5 or 6 depending on the ability of the student.   Students gain a deeper knowledge of our language by learning and applying English within different contexts through cultural activities and trips.  At the end of the course, students may gain certification within the internationally recognised Cambridge University EFL examination structure and at GCSE or IGCSE levels. 

We highly recommend this course to students who :

  • Require a better understanding of the English language before embarking on their choice of higher education.
  • Want to experience a British education and improve their grasp of the English language, but need to gain GCSE examinations to be able to continue study in their home country.
  • Have been educated mostly outside of the UK and are too old to join Sidcot in Year 10, but need GCSEs to be able to continue study in the Sixth Form.

All students who have started their education at Sidcot on the Pre A Level or Pre IB course have gained entry to one of their choices of UK Universities including Oxbridge on completion of their Sixth Form study.
