IELTS
This is the preferred English language qualification of most UK universities. This course focuses on academic language skills useful for A Level courses in addition to the IELTS qualification. Year 12 students have two group lessons and one individual lesson per week, working towards the exam in June. Students who need to are able to continue with one group lesson per week into Year 13.
The IELTS exam comprises listening, reading, writing and speaking sections with each section scored between 1 and 9. The four parts are equally weighted and give students a final IELTS band of 1 to 9.
Students study a range of topics that IELTS questions are taken from along with exam techniques to help them achieve their best possible score. The course is academic and students need to work both inside and outside the classroom to reach their potential.
Overseas students are encouraged to join in activities that will lead to as much interaction with UK students and students of other nationalities. An immersion in English is a great help in preparing for IELTS.
