Language Ab initio

Language Ab initio, the subject currently offered is Spanish.  This option is appropriate for non-native speakers of the language who have no prior knowledge.

Language ab initio is taken as a standard level subject and taught for 3 periods per week.

In keeping with the Diploma Programme, the Language Ab Initio course seeks not only to practise and explore the language but also develop intercultural understanding. Through receptive, productive and interactive skills, students develop their ability to respond and interact in a range of everyday situations, including the themes; Individual and society, Leisure and work and Urban and rural environment.

Students study a range of texts and are exposed to many different sources of both written and spoken original language.

The language ab initio course benefits from a language-specific guide containing both the prescribed grammar and lexicon necessary in order for students to meet the assessment objectives.
