Psychology
The reputation of psychology as an academic subject has improved greatly over the last 20 years. For example, modern psychology courses include elements of statistics, experimental analysis and evaluative skills. Students can use their knowledge of psychology to help them understand human behaviour relevant for a wide range of university courses as well as using the more general skills learned in psychology.
For the first year, the syllabus has a central core. One of the advantages of the core is that it requires the student to study aspects of the whole range of modern Psychology. This means that students will develop an overview of the subject to compare the different approaches. It will helps them see the relationship of Psychology to other disciplines and to gain some insight into the interconnections between different topic areas within Psychology.
Students build knowledge and understanding of 15 psychology studies, demonstrating evaluation skills and a wider appreciation of perspectives, theories, issues and debates.
The entire course will help students understand themselves and their behaviour, and that of others.
