The Business Department can help you answer these questions and more. At Sidcot  you can study:

  •  
    1.  GCSE in Business Studies (AQA Board) and learn about setting up and running a business.
    2. A level Business Studies (AQA Board) where you can learn about planning, financing and managing businesses and the strategies for success as well as the effects on a business of changes in the economy and government laws.
    3. A level Accounting (AQA Board) to investigate how accounting financial records are produced and used for managing a business.
    4. A level Economics (Edexcel Board) and International Baccalaureate Economics (Higher and Standard level) where you can study how markets work, why the government interferes in the market, how the government tries to manage the economy, why countries trade and how less developed economies can develop.

The Business Department also offers opportunities for all students to be creative and show initiative through a variety of activities:

  • Setting up and running a mini-enterprise as part of the GCSE course.
  • Taking part in the Company Programme of Young Enterprise in the Lower 6th.
  • Joining the Fairtrade Cooperative in the 6th Form.
  • Taking part in the Tanzania expedition in the 6th Form with the opportunity for community service and taking part in environmental projects.
