SCPTA
What we do
Sidcot Community Parent Teacher Association is a valuable asset to the school and provides a voice for parents in regards to school developments, support through the organisation of fundraising events and other functions such as meeting new parents at Open Mornings. Most importantly it provides a chance to get to know other parents and members of staff through social events or gatherings.
There are a good number of parents and teachers in the SCPTA who volunteer their time to support events and projects. Even though Sidcot is a fee paying school, the value of the PTA is just as important in contributing to the ethos and support network to other parents and pupils.
Our Achievements:
SCPTA has been very active in recent years, supporting school activities and providing opportunities to strengthen the network of parents, teachers and all the adults who are involved with the school. Each year there are a number of events supported including the Bonfire and Fireworks Night; the Wessex Walk, where students hike up to 18 miles across the Mendips to raise money for Save the Children and our biggest annual event, the Summer Festival Garden Party. The SCPTA also holds regular coffee mornings (with homemade cakes) enabling new parents to meet others at the school and learn more about what happens here and who’s who.
Although the focus of the SCPTA is in strengthening the links with the school and the parent community, through events and donations, the committee is also able to enrich the extra-curricular life at Sidcot. They provide grants for student led initiatives that benefit the whole school populace or specific requests for activities equipment and environmental projects. Below is a list of items that have been funded through the SCPTA events and donations.
- Multi-gym equipment
- Gardening club equipment
- Octopush specialist gear
- School disco equipment
- Fencing Club items
- Water filters for mountain trips
- “Chickens for Sidcot”
- Swimming club team hats
- Machine and mannequins for the Textiles Department
- Outdoor brick oven kit
