Leaving a Legacy
If the time is ever right for you to remember Sidcot in your Will that would be fantastic.
It goes without saying that your family and friends should come first when you are thinking about making your will. However, in leaving a gift to Sidcot, you are able to ensure that future generations of students can continue to enjoy the quality of education and the unique Sidcot experience for many years to come. Leaving a legacy to the school may provide you with the perfect opportunity to give something back to Sidcot, without the financial restraints of day to day life. It is also worth remembering that Sidcot is a registered charity, therefore any gifts made would not be eligible for Inheritance Tax. By including Sidcot in your will, you can reduce the value of your estate and therefore reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax due.
There are different types of legacy to consider:
Residuary Bequest
A residuary bequest is a gift made after all other bequests have been made and debts have been cleared.
Pecuniary Bequest
A pecuniary bequest is a gift of a fixed amount of money in your will. The value of a pecuniary bequest can erode over time as inflation increases.
Reversionary Bequest
A reversionary legacy allows you to leave a gift to your loved ones for use during their life time, which will then be passed on to Sidcot after their death.
Specific Bequest
A specific bequest allows you to leave a named item in your will, for example a piece or jewellery, a work of art, a fixed sum or a percentage of your estate.
