Development

“For almost 150 years Sidcot has received the devoted services of generations of men and women who have worked for it in countless different ways, often with much self-sacrifice, and always with a love for the school and a firm conviction that its distinctive contribution of Quaker education to the life on the community should be continued and developed with the changing times.  Were we not completely confident that this is as true as ever, this Appeal would not be issued.”

‘Sidcot School and its Future’, Appeal booklet, November 1951

There has been a long tradition of fundraising at Sidcot, which has enabled the school to carry out essential maintenance and repairs, as well as undertake large scale projects such as the building of the new library, the Sports Centre, and most recently, the outstanding new Arts Centre, which has provided excellent facilities for both Sidcot students and for members of the local community.  Fundraising also allows the school to provide bursaries for those children who would benefit from a Sidcot education, but would otherwise be unable to attend the school due to financial reasons, as well as providing assistance for existing students who fall upon hard times.

We cannot do this through fee income alone, and so it is through the generosity of everyone who has been associated with development at Sidcot, through both donations of funds, skills and time, that the school has been able to move forward and continue to provide the best non selective education with fantastic facilities for our students.  These contributions benefit not only our current students, but those for many years to come.
