Extra-Curricular Activities

One of the best ways to stimulate a child’s imagination and desire to learn is to take them out of the classroom and immerse them in what the world has to offer.  To provide a broad education that nutures skills and talent in areas other than purely academic, or to support concepts learned in the classroom, we use a wide variety of extra-curricular experiences to inspire our children.  These come in the form of after school activities, educational trips and daily excursions.

After school activities are an important part of the education that Sidcot has to offer and were highlighted as “excellent” (the new term for outstanding) in our recent ISI Inspection Report,

The school’s curricular and extra-curricular provision is excellent in both the junior and senior schools, meeting highly effectively the school’s aim to encourage pupils to develop all their abilities.

We offere a diverse and engaging programme of after school activities that might one day, help to improve your skills in Photoshop and the next in learning how to keep bees.  Please see our Junior School and Senior School sections to learn more about the after school activities on offer this term.

Examples of the trips and excursions available at Sidcot include:

  • Art trips to galleries
  • Music tours to Europe
  • Geography and Biology field trips
  • Year 8 and Year 9 water based sports weeks under canvas
  • Exchanges to Brittany and Cologne
  • First World War Battlefields
  • Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to Scotland, the Lake District and Wales
  • Trips to lectures, theatres, museums and Universities
  • Alternative Technology weeks
  • Tanzania Project
  • Scuba diving and skiing trips

Extra-curricular activities are an excellent way of bringing learning to life and enriching the experiences of children.  It leads them to an awareness, interest and a concern for what is going on around them both locally and beyond international borders.
