Entrance Assessment Tests
The main points of entry into Sidcot School are Nursery, Reception, Year 7, Year 9 and the Sixth Form.
- Years 7 and 9: We ask all children to take age-standardised test in numeracy and literacy. These are for baseline assessments only and are not a hurdle to get over before being admitted. With the information provided from these tests we can develop individual education plans for children appropriate to their needs. Below the Sixth Form, children with a range of ability are welcome at Sidcot.
- Sixth Form: Entry to take A levels and the International Baccalaureate is dependent on results at GCSE or equivalent. We need to be satisfied that students can cope with the academic demands of Sixth Form courses.
- Overseas students without GCSEs and non-native speakers: We ask for a test in Mathematics and English to be completed prior to acceptance. Non-native speakers who have the capability to study at A level or IB, but have not reached a sufficient proficiency in the English language, will be advised to enrol for our pre-A level/pre-IB courses in the Academic English School at Sidcot.
