Sports

Competitive sports are played at Sidcot in a spirit of sportsmanship. Sport is seen as one of the many possible areas of personal development. We all like to win, but it is more important to play well and fairly. The sports facilities and staff at Sidcot ensure that each pupil can improve personal performances.
The main sports are: hockey and rugby in the Autumn Term; hockey and soccer in the Spring Term; tennis, rounders, cricket and athletics in the Summer Term. All-year-round sports include swimming, tennis, squash, netball, basketball and table-tennis. We have regular fixtures with other local public and state schools.
The School’s sporting facilities include 20 acres of playing fields, a large pavilion and changing rooms, four all-weather and three short tennis courts. There is also a heated indoor swimming pool, a sports hall, a squash court and a ‘multi-gym’. Riding stables have recently been added to the School’s facilities and students may take a Horse Owner's Certificate.
The high standards of the sporting achievement at Sidcot are illustrated by the fact that we regularly produce players for District and County school teams, notwithstanding Sidcot’s relatively small size.
Other sporting activities at Sidcot include water sports, caving, dry slope skiing, orienteering, backpacking, fencing, golf and others.
