Mathematics & Science
Mathematics and Science has always been a great strength at Sidcot. A hundred years ago children were carrying out practical investigations in the school laboratories and in the field at a time when in most schools, children sat in rows and learned by rote. Now these subjects are among our very strongest with experienced specialist teachers and first-rate exam results, but that spirit of enquiry is still at the fore.
Information and Communications Technology at Sidcot enhances and strengthens the whole curriculum and one of our main aims is to help children make sense of the massive amount of information that is available to them through the Internet.
Imagination is the key in these subjects and we want children to have the confidence to challenge ideas and come up with new answers.
Huge challenges face the world with climate change, continuously developing technology and ever decreasing resources. We hope that young people will leave Sidcot as free thinkers with a broad and thorough understanding of Science and Mathematics, who will relish these challenges and have the drive to make a difference.
