Geography

"Geography is everywhere, making sense of our world, where it matters … a world of difference."
Our aims in the teaching of Geography are that young people will develop a strong interest in their own surroundings and gain a better appreciation and understanding of the variety of physical and human conditions on the earth’s surface.
The Geography department is vibrant and well resourced with ICT and reference materials, and has additional access to those found in the main school library and IT department.
Fieldwork is a large part of the department’s work and there is a lively programme through Years 7 to 13. During day and residential trips to locations such as Exmoor, Dorset and Bristol, pupils will develop skills of observation, measurement, recording, evaluation and enquiry.
All pupils study Geography to the end of Key Stage 3 and a significant number opt to study the subject to GCSE level, and beyond to AS/A2 Level. In previous years, a number of students have chosen to read Geography or Geography-based subjects at university.
