Dance

Dance is available as an after school activity to all years from Nursery to Sixth Form. Currently tap, modern, jazz and ballet are taught at the Junior School and modern/jazz is available in the Senior School, however with sufficient demand different lessons may be added.

Dance at Sidcot may be attended in addition to classes taken with other dance schools. There are currently no examinations, allowing a wider range of work whilst still developing strong technique, flexibility, musicality and performance ability. The classes are fun and varied, giving pupils the chance to occasionally create their own pieces. Dance pupils also perform regularly in school musicals, concerts and assemblies.

Dance Teacher, Emma Tobitt, gained her ISTD teaching qualifications at Bristol College of Dancing and has taught various performing arts groups and dance schools, after dancing professionally herself. Emma still performs as a singer and dancer in professional shows.

All pupils are welcome regardless of ability or experience. Emma is adept at catering for a variety of ages and abilities, stretching pupils with more experience whilst encouraging those who may need more attention. 

Emma’s ambition is to get the whole school up on their feet and dancing!
