Sidcot Sixth Form Foundation

(International Students)

Sidcot's Sixth Form Foundation (formerly known as AES: Academic English School) was set up in September 1998 in response to the growing numbers of overseas students wishing to study at Sidcot School who need a foundation course in the language and academic skills required to achieve success at A Level.

successful graduationThe SFF has been very successful and many students have transferred to Sidcot School to study a two-year A Level course and then achieved places at good universities. In its current form it prepares students for A level and for the International Baccalaureate.

Our students range from lower-intermediate to upper-intermediate level competency in English and are aged from 15 to 17.  It is a one year course and students are admitted in September.

aesAt the end of the course our students may gain certification within the internationally recognised Cambridge University EFL examination structure or at GCSE or IGCSE levels.

The SFF curriculum is designed to give our students the linguistic and cultural knowledge required to be successful in a British secondary school and in a British university thereafter.

Students learn how to use the English language in context through a weekly cultural trip or activity that is included in the fee. This highly successful course has enabled 100% of our students to go onto achieve excellent exam results and enter British Universities of their choice.

As well as language tuition, students are supported with career guidance and advice on the next step in their academic future.
