In such an atmosphere, positive relationships flourish between staff and pupils, and amongst pupils. Many members of the staff live on the school campus, and this mix of adults with the pupils has been a valuable part of the Sidcot tradition.

The strength and support of the community is particularly important for each pupil’s personal and social development: the transition from child to young adult can be difficult. In addition to the informal support of the community, the School has formalised pastoral arrangements to ensure that each individual is guided and advised.

Sidcot is one of the oldest co-educational boarding schools in the country and, while enrolment may vary from year to year, we aim to have an even balance of boys and girls. Experience over many years has shown this environment provides a healthy and successful preparation for adult life.
